EECP stands for Enhanced External Counterpulsation — a non-invasive, safe, painless, no side effect and outpatient therapy designed to improve blood circulation to the heart. [12]

The external inflatable cuffs will be wrapped around the calves, thigh and hip area and arms.  These cuffs will continuously inflate and deflate between the resting period of the heartbeat during the treatment, from lower to upper body which results in improved blood flow to the heart. [1]  A typical EECP treatment needs 7 weeks to complete a total of 35 sessions. [4,5]

EECP Can Only Operated by Qualified Facilities and Personnel

According to the Medical Practice Division under the Ministry of Health Malaysia, only private healthcare facilities and services licensed under the Private Healthcare Facilities and Services Act 1998 [ Act 586 ] with at least as a private ambulatory care centre [ Ambulatory Care Centre (ACC)] are able to carry out the EECP therapy due to at least post-procedure observation is required after the therapy. [3]

The EECP therapy also can be operated by qualified Cardiologists or Internal Medicine Physicians only with the aim of handling possible complications following the procedure. [3]
Indices needed to be assessed and monitored before, during and after the EECP therapy to evaluate the safety and efficiency of every EECP session.[4] Extra concern on specific data points such as heart rate, oxygen saturation, and others are required for clients with different medical conditions. Hence, strongly recommend all purchases should be made in full compliance with local laws and regulations.
